Syndeelou’s bonus wisdom

What made you decide to start your business?

I’ve always been an entrepreneur. Since I was a little girl I dreamed about creating things and building businesses. My first business was using old jeans to make handbags at nine years old. My mom helped me sew the buttons on and we sold them to her friends and family. I guess I’ve just been doing it all my life. It’s who I am. Business excites and inspires me.

What is the greatest challenge you have faced in your life?

Losing my mother at a young age unexpectedly from a brain hemorrhage.

  • What did you learn from it?
    • I learned that life is fleeting. I began to fear loss and death.
  • How did you overcome it?
    • I had an amazing father who believed in me and taught me that love endures and life is worth living every day. He taught me to put my troubles into a goal and that hard work never hurt anyone.

What is story from your childhood that formed who you are today?

My mother’s words when I was very young. I was 8 years old and had my first schoolgirl crush on a boy who was 9. I had written him a love note and left it in his lunchbox eagerly awaiting his response.  Unfortunately, he chose to give his affections to a more mature 10-year-old girl over me. I ran home with so many tears in my eyes that I tripped and scuffed up my knees… never wanting to love again. When my mother saw me… her heart knew her little girl was wounded and comforted me with a warm hug and words which have stayed with me my whole life. I have shared the same words with my daughter… she asked me, “in nature when one animal chases another in the woods, what happens? She then answered for me, “the animal being chased runs away”. She told me “to never chase after someone’s love or attention.” She then continued, “The only thing you should chase in life is your dreams and chase them with all your heart. The right love will come and sit beside you and will support all those dreams you’ve captured”.

What do you wish someone would have told you that you had to learn the hard way?

To spend far less time worrying and far more time being proactive.

What do you wish that every woman would know?

To never doubt their worth. Every hero and mentor in our lives came from a woman’s womb. We women are pretty bad ass! We not only create life… we nurture mankind with loving powerful protective feminine energy.

What is something that few people know about you?

That I used to be a professional singer songwriter.

Have you ever been inspired to do something you were afraid to do but you knew you had to and you did it anyway?

God yes! I’m an anxious person naturally so most things take courage.

What helped you have the courage and trust to do it?

Something internal I can’t quite explain but a good friend nicknamed me “Tenasyndee” for my tenacious nature. I guess “tenacity” pays off.

What difference do you want to make in the world?

To support women to feel more empowered and beautiful is enough for me.
